There's a million reasons (well, at least a few) why we recommend plant-based diets or veggies with every meal covering at least two-thirds of your plate. The main reason...we feel better!
The body needs 6 essential nutrients to function properly including carbohydrates, fats, proteins, vitamins, minerals and water. Nutrients are compounds in foods essential to life and health, providing us with energy, the building blocks for repair and growth and substances necessary to regulate chemical processes. Fruits and vegetables provide these essential nutrients.
"Our Western diet and antibiotic use have decimated our gut flora, and in the process, ruined our “gut instinct”—the basis of the shaman’s “second sight”, the ability to see the hidden nature of reality. You cannot meditate, heal yourself or others, forgive those who wronged you or stop feeling like a victim if your gut flora is compromised. If your gut is riddled with Candida, you will only perceive strife and be angry. Even if you live in a city, you can cultivate sprouts and make probiotic-rich foods." - Marlaina Donato
We recognize that changes are challenging. We recommend starting slow...try going vegan for at least one day a week...then two.
Eating a plant-based diet can help in prevention of most diseases, in the reduction of green-house gas emissions, and in following the way of the sages -- seeing the light in everything and deepening respect for nature.
We highly recommend diets with limited sugars, grains, and dairy. We recommend diets rich in omega 3s; eating organic, wild caught, and free range when possible.
Healing Herbs & Spices
Go ahead...spice it up! Healing herbs and spices including ginger, turmeric, curicumin, garlic, and cayenne all provide powerful antioxidants and a range of other health benefits.
Often times we work with plant medicine. We bless and cleanse with many plants including palo santo, cedar, sage, rosemary, and lavender. We cleanse with spirit water made of sacred plants. Each plant is unique and carries different properties for healing.
"Spirit is not woo woo. It's who we are." - Bob Proctor
